South Humber Park Trail & Asset Inventory
This project verifies the OpenStreetMap trail network in South Humber Park against ground truth collected in Field Maps, then inventories assets and issues in a domain-controlled geodatabase. Of the 5,422 m walked, 1.34 km (24.8%) disagrees with OSM. Network analysis from 13 park entrances identifies the closest service facilities in summer and autumn.
Verified trail additions were contributed back to OpenStreetMap.
Toronto Residential Break-and-Enter Analysis
This project normalizes 2015–2025 residential B&E data by dwelling count, then builds a space-time cube and runs EHSA to track how clusters shift over time. HSA and Cluster and Outlier Analysis are compared to tell real clusters from noise. Sporadic hot spots dominate north-central Toronto, Etobicoke oscillates, Scarborough and East York stay cold. Per dwelling, houses face about 2× the break-in risk of apartments city-wide, widening to 3–5× in the highest-rate neighbourhoods.
Newmarket Heritage Properties
Newmarket's Municipal Heritage Register lists 318 properties. This project geocoded all 318, georeferenced a historical town map, and field-verified 130 properties on site using Survey123 and Field Maps. Results were published as web maps, an ArcGIS Dashboard, and an Instant App. Field verification found 65 discrepancies against the register: 28 properties with outdated plaque status, 24 plaques not listed in the register, and 13 records with conflicting details.
Where the Water Flows
Watershed analysis of four rivers — Humber, Credit, Holland, and Nottawasaga — showing how a subtle elevation divide shapes contrasting flow directions across the land between Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario. Built using DEM data, ArcGIS hydrology tools (Fill, Flow Direction, Flow Accumulation, Raster to Polyline, Contour), and published as a StoryMap.
Land Cover Comparison, Ukraine
A 28-year land cover change analysis of Ukraine using Esri's Global Land Cover 1992–2020 layer and ArcGIS Pro. Change detection revealed that ~94% of the country remained stable, with the most significant shifts being 14,400 km² of cropland converting to urban areas and 16,189 km² transitioning to tree cover.
Route Visualization: Toronto–Bahamas Boat Trip
An interactive web map visualizing a boat journey from Toronto to the Bahamas across lakes, rivers, and open ocean. Built in QGIS with multiple custom vector layers — full route, generalized route, and key trip points — combined with ESRI basemaps and published to QGIS Cloud. Includes distance calculations between waypoints along the journey.
Dear Canada Books on the Map
An interactive map placing Scholastic's Dear Canada book series across the country by their historical settings. Each point represents a book location, connecting Canadian history and geography through fiction. Built in QGIS for spatial data preparation and published as a web map using Leaflet.
